Project Overview

This design comprised of a double span lattice portal with a clear span of 136m and 20m clear height with a 80m span 3.8m deep valley girder eliminated internal columns to provide full flexibility. The structure is fully braced with truss frames and fixed pad bases to control deflections.

Particular attention was given to the hanger slab design as the Boeing 777 had caused premature runway failure at other airports due to its very high wheel loads in comparison to similar sized aircrafts.
