The structure is a 2 storey steel frame around a central courtyard, with hollow core precast concrete planks on the first floor with a 75mm structural topping, along with precast planks to the second floor and a trapezoidal structural roof deck supported off either pitched, cranked or flat beams. The external façade is constructed with a mixture of glazing, masonry and concrete cladding panels, with a lightweight steel framed inner leaf system. Stability of the structure is provided by means of vertical cross and portal bracing.
The main hall has been designed as a portal frame system with internal tension feature rods.
The kitchen area consists of steel columns supporting a glulam truss roof with trapezoidal structural metal decking spanning from top chord to bottom chord. As the glulam sections are visible, all glulam to steel/glulam connections have been designed and detailed so that they are hidden.
The steel frame and floor was erected in 8 phases to accommodate access into the site and to allow other trades to progress during the erection.
